Preparing for reopening school after cholera lock down. De schoolborden zijn echt aan een onderhoudsbeurt toe :)

Alles wordt in gereedheid gebracht voor de start van het nieuwe schooljaar as. maandag 12 februari! “Preparations are underway for the start of the new school year on Monday, February 12th! After the lock down for almost 6 weeks because of a cholera outbreak in the country, schools are re opening!

Ook de schoolborden in de pre school zijn na 10 jaar aan een echte onderhoudsbeurt toe. Met dank aan John Muleya van Gig Nidole (de aannemer die de primary school heeft gebouwd en het handwash basin). En aan zijn team natuurlijk. Zij maakten er weer iets moois van.

Een schoolbord is een groot vlak van gepolijst cement, direct op de muur aangebracht, zwart geverfd met schoolbordverf en een rand erom heen. Tja, white-borden.. het is natuurlijk een droom voor de leraren. Maar er zijn nog een paar andere prioriteiten die nog wat urgenter zijn.

“Preparations are underway for the start of the new school year on Monday, February 12th! Even the black boards in the preschool were in need of a real maintenance overhaul after 10 years. We extend our gratitude to John Muleya from Gig Nidole (the contractor who built the primary school and the handwash basin), and to his team, of course.

A black board is a large surface of polished cement, directly applied to the wall, painted black with black board paint and framed. Well, whiteboards… they are, of course, a dream for teachers. But there are still a few other priorities that are a bit more pressing.”
