In Boedapest wordt nu gestreden om het WK Atletiek. De kampioen voor de Xavier Community School/Linda Blind Farm School is al binnen! Thuy Nyguyen heeft dit jaar opnieuw de 160 km plus gelopen tijdens de Nijmeegse Vierdaagse 2023. De blaren van Thuy zijn helemaal geheeld.

Ditmaal heeft Thuy haar sponsorloop gelopen voor de bouw van de, derde, nieuwe school: de eerste klassen voor de middelbare school! Geweldig.

The World Athletics Championships are now being competed in Budapest. The champion for Xavier Community School/Linda Blind Farm School is already in! Thuy Nyguyen ran the 160 km Plus again this year during the 2023 Nijmegen Four-Day Walk./The Walk of Fame. Thuy’s blisters are completely healed.This time Thuy ran her sponsor walk for the construction of the, third, new school: the first classes for a new, real, secondary school! How special!

We hadden al een dag gepoogd om haar tijdens een etappe een hart onder de riem te steken maar toen snelde ze ons op drie plekken voorbij voordat we haar maar konden zien. We gaven niet op en op de laatste dag stonden we bij Molenhoek op Thuy te wachten. Daarna zouden we met de trein verder doorreizen naar het eindpunt.

Maar.. u raadt het al. Plots gaf de app aan dat Thuy weer ongezien voorbij was gesneld. Wij zetten een flinke spurt in om haar te achterhalen. Gelukt!

Alleen konden we toen de hele lange stoet niet meer uit. We zijn helemaal meegelopen tot aan de eindstreep, 12 km verder.

Wat een belevenis, wat een feest, wat een bijzondere ervaring, wat een eer, om met Thuy de Via Gladiola te lopen. Ongelooflijk wat er dan door je heen gaat. Wij liepen maar 12 km maar Thuy had er al weer meer dan 160 in de benen.

Met blaren op haar voeten maar dat kon haar niet deren.

Schijnbaar onvermoeid, pratend, lachend, onderweg mensen spreken, haar verhalen over de Linda Blind Farm School vertellend, Thuy ging door. En om 17.18 u liep ze vrolijk over de eindstreep. Voor de 8e keer al weer.

En wij.. onze bewondering gaat bovenal weer naar Thuy die weer/wind/regen én blaren trotserend, 4 ochtenden achter elkaar om 3.30 u uit haar bed stapte en de trein nam op weg naar de startplaats. Om vervolgens weer telkens 40 km te gaan lopen.

En daarmee heeft ze, ook erg belangrijk, tot nog toe een prachtig bedrag bij elkaar gelopen voor de bouw van eerste klaslokalen voor een echte middelbare school op de Linda Blind Farm in Livingstone/Zambia. En dan worden alle donaties ook nog eens met 50% verhoogd door de Stichting Wilde Ganzen. Iedere gedoneerde euro is meteen 1,50 euro waard! Ontzettend veel dank, aan iedereen die op welke manier dan ook Thuy met haar sponsorloop hebben geholpen. Door de posts te liken of te delen, door haar op welke manier dan ook aan te moedigen en natuurlijk de mensen die geholpen hebben om een prachtig sponsorbedrag bij elkaar te lopen. En zelfs na pakweg 45 uur lopen, blijft Thuy vertellen en vertellen. Schijnbaar onvermoeibaar. Gelukkig (voor ons ;)), wil ze uiteindelijk wel gaan zitten :).

Het was weer geweldig Thuy!! De kids op school snappen er niets van: iemand, 10.000 km verder, die vrijwillig 160 km gaat lopen voor hun nieuwe school. Maar ze vinden het ook weer heel bijzonder. En dat is het: heeeel bijzonder!

We had already attempted to cheer her on one day during a stage but then she past us in three places before we could even see her. We did not give up and on the last day we were waiting for Thuy at Molenhoek. Then we would continue by train to the final point. That was the plan 🙂

But… you guessed it. Suddenly the app indicated that Thuy had again rushed by unseen. We put on a big sprint to catch up with her. Successful!

Only then we couldn’t get out of the very long procession. So.. we walked all the way up with Thuy, to the finish line, another 12 km.

What an experience, what a party, what a special experience, what an honor, to walk the Via Gladiola with Thuy. Unbelievable what goes through you then. We only walked 12 km but Thuy already had more than 160 km in her legs.

With blisters on her feet but she didn’t care.

Seemingly tireless, talking, laughing, talking to people along the way, telling her stories about the Linda Blind Farm School, Thuy kept going. And at 5:18 p.m. she happily walked across the finish line. For the 8th time already.

And we … our admiration goes above all to Thuy who defied weather/wind/rain and blisters, 4 mornings in a row, got out of bed at 3.30 am and took the train to the starting point. To then start walking 40 km each time.

And also very important of course: by walking all those kilometers, she has, so far, raised a wonderful amount for the construction of first classrooms for a real secondary school at the Linda Blind Farm in Livingstone/Zambia. And then all donations are also increased by 50% by the Wilde Ganzen Foundation. Every donated euro is immediately worth 1.50 euros! A very huge thanks go to all the donors who helped Thuy and her sponsorwalk by sharing the posts, encouraging her on one way or another and of course by helping her raising the fantastic amount of donations!

And even after roughly 45 hours of walking, Thuy keeps telling and telling. Seemingly tirelessly. Fortunately (for us ;)), she eventually wanted to sit down for a minute :).

It was great again Thuy!!! The kids at school don’t understand a thing: someone, 10.000 km away, who, voluntarily, walks 160 km for the benefit of their new secundary school. But they also find it very special. And that’s it: very,very, special!
