On the move again. De container maakt plaats voor een prachtig handwash bassin! The container makes way for a beautiful handwash basin

Vorige week werd ik al heel vroeg gewekt door allerlei whatsapps. The container was on the move! Het heeft even geduurd want de truck en de lader konden de Linda Blind Farm niet op. Zou zouden in de modder wegzakken vanwege een paar heftige regenweken. Maar bij de eerste paar droge dagen was het zover.

Last week I was awakened very early by all kinds of whatsapps. The container was on the move! It has taken a while because the truck and the loader could not reach the Linda Blind Farm. They would sink in the mud because of a few weeks of heavy rain. But with the first few dry days, the first opportunity was taken. Immediately (and early in the morning:)).

De container moet plaats maken voor de bouw van het handwater bassin: i.p.v. 1 watertap, 14 waterkranen (ook voor kinderen en mensen met een beperking, overdekt en dus beschermend tegen zon en regen, niet in de modder maar met een mooie vloer, èn wasbakken als ook tapkranen voor het vullen van jerrycans: genoeg, schoon (drink) water. En tevens een wapen tegen corona omdat water essentieel is voor een goede hygiëne en gezondheid. De container gaat weg, het handwash bassin komt eraan!

 

 

The container had to make way for the construction of the hand water basin: instead of 1 water tap, 14 water taps (also for children and people with disabilities, covered and thus protected from sun and rain, not in the mud but with a nice floor, and sinks as well as taps for filling jerry cans: enough, clean (drinking) water. And also a weapon against corona because water is essential for good hygiene and health. The container is going away, the handwash basin is coming!

March 2022: On the move to his new destionation: Workshop skill-centre of Pure Skills, Livingstone Zambia.

Nowadays: every child his/her own table and chair, a real library so reading is so much more fun now and playing tools for the youngest.

January 2020: Unpacking the container and each child their own table and chair: finally.

June 2019: Arrival at the Linda Blind Farm. After almost 12.500 km.

April 2018: departure from Venray, after collection so many wonderful furniture and learning sources, on the move all the way to the Linda Blind Farm School in Livingstone, Zambia.

En de container gaat naar: Pure skills is een project dat wordt gerund door dit fantastische, toegewijde Engels/Zuid-Afrikaanse (maar nu Zambiaanse:) echtpaar. Het combineert niet alleen het opleiden van mensen met de vaardigheden die nodig zijn om een succes van hun leven te maken en een inkomen te genereren, maar ook een initiatief dat studenten opleidt om producten te maken van gerecyclede of ge-upcyclede materialen. Pure Skills heeft bijvoorbeeld ook boekenplanken en tandenborstelrekjes geleverd voor de Linda Blind Farm School.
De container begint weer aan een betekenisvol nieuw leven.

And the container went to: Pure skills is a project run by this amazing, dedicated English/South-African (but now Zambian:) couple. It not only combines educating people with the skills needed to make a succes of their lives and generate an income but also an initiative that educates students to make products using recycled or up-cycled materials. For example, Pure Skills has also delivered bookshelfs and toothbrush racks for the Linda Blind Farm School. The container is starting a meaningful new life again.
