The Xavier Community School made quite an impact today on International Women’s Day 2024 in Livingstone! On March 8, 2014, now 10 years ago, I was there too. It marked my first International Women’s Day celebrated in Zambia
. Back then, Bridget, Elidah, and Juliet led the march for the Linda Blind Farm School. And now, 10 years later, the team from Xavier Community School, with Bridget and Elidah still present
, couldn’t be missed. With a beautiful banner, they paraded through Livingstone. Amidst a crowd of thousands and temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, the team stood firm.
Even the President of Zambia, President Hakainde Hichilema, joined in! The Xavier Community School didn’t go unnoticed by him
. As the team passed by with their magnificent banner, the name of Xavier Community School echoed through the speakers, and he waved in acknowledgment. Happy Women’s Day to all women, young and old, around the world and in Livingstone, Zambia, and certainly at Xavier Community School in particular!
