Enorm blij is de school en ben ik zeker ook dat Livingstone Collective, een samenwerkingsverband van lokale boeren en voedselproducenten in Livingstone,  gaat helpen om alle klaslokalen van gordijnen te voorzien.

Livingstone Collective is een prachtig initiatief. Het is een lokale samenwerking tussen vele verschillende voedselproducenten in Livingstone. Lokale boeren en andere voedselproducenten werken samen in een collectief en verzorgen voor de consument elke dag zeer verse, homemade, producten. Via een centrale site kan je bijvoorbeeld verse eieren, sla, honing, brood, maismeel bestellen. Maar ook kippen en geiten.

40 graden of meer buiten.. u begrijpt het meteen.. de temperatuurmeter (die er overigens niet is) in de klaslokalen, wil in Zambia nogal wel eens stevig stijgen. En zeker nu de winter langzamer overgaat in de snikhete warme periode, met regelmatig temperaturen van zelfs boven die 40 graden, is dat een probleem. Bij (hele) hoge temperaturen wordt het ook niet gemakkelijker om je te concentreren. En concentratie is ook juist wel weer handig als je in de schoolbanken zit ?.

Gordijnen helpen niet alleen om de zon buiten te houden maar ook om het geluid te absorberen. Want 30 kids in een klaslokaal met betonnen vloeren, gestukte muren en geen dakisolatie.. u kunt zich vast een voorstelling maken wat dat soms doet met de decibellen ?.

Daarom is het zo bijzonder dat een lokaal initiatief in Zambia de handen in een heeft geslagen en een actie is gestart om gordijnen te kunnen doneren aan de primary school van Xavier Community School (Linda Blind Farm School). Dat houdt de zon buiten, helpt de temperatuur te reguleren en absorbeert geluid.

Livingstone Collective draagt op een bijzondere andere manier bij aan de lokale gemeenschap. Ze vragen hun klanten om het wisselgeld te doneren aan het Doel van de Maand. En voor deze maand zijn we vereerd dat zij de Xavier Community School als hun goede doel hebben uitgekozen! De school heeft besloten om daar gordijnen voor de primary school van te willen kopen.

Dankzij uw hulp en natuurlijk die van Wilde Ganzen kan Bouwstenen voor Zambia, samen met Pure Skills, ( https://govicfalls.com/listing/pure-skills/ https://pureskillszambia.com/ ) zorgen voor de gordijnrails. En de pre school? Die is 8 jaar geleden al voorzien van gordijntjes.

Ik wil speciaal graag Mrs Janet Berner bedanken voor het in contact brengen van de school met de Livingstone Collective. Binnenkort krijgt de school te horen hoeveel deze actie heeft opgebracht, en daarna zullen we snel de gordijnen laten maken. Dat helpt echt!

Hugely pleased the Xavier Community School is, the Livingstone Collective, a partnership of local farmers and food producers in Livingstone, is going to help to provide curtains for all classrooms of the brand new primary school which opened by a wonderful openingsceremony in June this year.

Livingstone Collective is a wonderful initiative, a collaboration between many different food producers in Livingstone. A collective of farmers and other food producers work together in a collective and provide consumers with very super fresh, homemade, products every day.

Through a central site you can order for example eggs, lettuce, honey, bread, cornmeal. And also chickens and goats, among many other things.

40 degrees or more outside … you understand immediately … the temperature in the classrooms rises quite a bit. And especially now that winter is slowly turning into the scorching hot period, with regular temperatures even above 40 degrees, this is an issue. At (very) high temperatures it is not easy to concentrate. Specially for children it isn’t. And concentration is exactly what comes in handy when you’re at school ? .

Curtains not only help keep out the sun but also absorb sound. Because 30 kids in a classroom with concrete floors, stucco walls and no roof insulation…. you can probably imagine what that sometimes does to the decibels ? .

That is why it is so special that Livingstone Collection has joined forces and started a fundraising to donate curtains to the primary school of Xavier Community School at the Linda Farm in Livingstone. Curtains help to keep the sun out, help regulate temperature and absorb noise. They make a real difference for the children and teachers. We are so grateful!

Livingstone Collective contributes to the local community in a particularly different way.The Livingstone Collective asks their customers to donate the change to a charity. By combining many smaller contributions, together they can make a big impact.  And for this month, we are honored that they have chosen Xavier Community School as their charity!

On behalf of the children, teachers and school committee as on behalf of the foundation Bricks for Zambia, I would especially like to thank Janet Berner for putting the school in touch with the Livingstone Collective. Soon the school will hear how much this campaign raised, and then we will have the curtains made soon. It really helps!
