Een bijzondere missie: 196 landen van de UN bezoeken. A special mission: visiting all 196 countries of the UN. John visited also the Xavier Community School

Hij heeft een bijzondere missie: het bezoeken van alle 196 landen van de Verenigde Naties.  Zambia werd land nummer 155. En daarbij wilde John heel graag zelf een kijkje gaan nemen op de Linda Blind Farm School/ the Xavier Community School. En zo is geschied. John heeft inmiddels al weer voet op Neerlands bodem gezet met in zijn rugzak ook hele mooie indrukken van de school.

John doet verslag op zijn facebook. Met prachtige foto’s telkens weer en intrigerende, interessante comments. Zijn eerste comment vergezeld van foto’s van John op de Linda Blind Farm School (de kinderen lachen zich slap met John :)):

“De glimlach van een kind.

Er was eens een Venrays jongetje (11) in Livingstone/Zambia op zoek naar avontuur. Tijdens die oogverblindende zoektocht, struikelde hij meermaals over de (on)zichtbare ongelijkheid. Waarna hij besefte dat het (hoog) tijd was voor z’n (hoogbegaafde) raad én daad.

Het meisje schaterde onbekommerd, (mede) dankzij haar gestegen kansen op een onbekommerde toekomst… Knap werk Xavier…!

Nou die tips waren allen meer dan hartelijk welkom. Om nog maar te zwijgen van het daaropvolgende hartelijke welkom op de Linda Blind School zelf. Hoofdjuf Priscar en juf Bridget hebben me uitvoerig alle hoeken van deze bijzondere school laten zien.”

John van der Heijden werd warm ontvangen door teachers en kinderen op de Linda Blind Farm School. Als een guest of honor bijna. Ze regelden ook nog een bezoek aan Mukuni Village voor hem en waren ook daar zijn gastvrouw (met veel dank aan teacher Bridget :)). Leuk dat we de voorpret met hem konden delen al in Venray en we hem konden overladen met tips en meer tips en nog meer tips en dat ging nog beter en sneller met de hulp van Anne Smudde van Stichting Lilato.

John zelf over zijn ontvangsten op de school en de ondersteuning van de (head)teacher(s) Priscar en Bridget:

Thuis in Venray hoorde ik op de achtergrond regelmatig over het wel en wee van dit schoolvoorbeeld van liefdadigheidswerk, maar da’s tóch anders wanneer je ter plekke toegezongen wordt door een klas vol opgewonden schoolkindertjes. En toen moest de pauze nog beginnen…
Dank Xavier (én Ietje) voor alle bemoeienissen voor én tijdens mijn bliksembezoek aan één van de mooiste bestemmingen van mijn afvink-lijstje.

Ik hoop over een paar jaartjes met pensioen te kunnen gaan, en dan eindelijk kan gaan genieten van mijn welverdiende rust. Met wellicht zelfs een kansje op een reis naar een verre bestemming. Die zou dan zomaar richting Zambia kunnen gaan. Nieuwsgierig naar de vorderingen van de Linda Blind Farm School én naar die van de kinderen…”.

En daar blijft het natuurlijk niet bij. John brengt alle 196 landen bij elkaar en gaat dat straks met iedereen delen. Op deze manier 196 landen bij elkaar kunnen brengen en de wereld samen brengen, dat is een prachtig beeld en een stap vooruit om de wereld wat mooier te maken. Door de wereld dichterbij te brengen. Met Zambia bezocht John ook Botswana, Zimbabwe en Lesotho. Bhutan wordt het volgende doel. Met Sri Lanka en India. He has a special mission: to visit all 196 countries of the United Nations. Zambia became country number 155. And with that, John really wanted to go and see for himself the Linda Blind Farm School/ the Xavier Community School. And so it happened. Publishing this blog, John has already set foot on Dutch soil with in his backpack some very precious impressions of the Xavier Community School, staff and children as of Livingstone itself.

John reports on his facebook about his trips. So he does about his visit to Zambia. With beautiful pictures again and again and intriguing, interesting comments. I would like to share some, first comments, accompanied by pictures of John at the Linda Blind Farm School:

There was once a Venray boy (11) in Livingstone/Zambia looking for adventure. During that dazzling quest, he stumbled several times over the (in)visible inequality. After which he realized it was (high) time for his (gifted) advice and action.

The girl laughed unconcernedly, (partly) thanks to her increased chances of a carefree future… Nice work Xavier…!

John was received warmly by teachers and children at the Linda Blind Farm School. Almost like a guest of honor.  And they also arranged a visit to Mukuni Village for him and were his hosts there as well (with many thanks to teacher Bridget :)). Nice that we could share the fun with him already in Venray and shower him with tips and more tips and more tips and it even went much faster with the help of Anne Smudde from the Lilato Foundation.

“Well those tips were all more than welcome. Not to mention the subsequent warm welcome at the Linda Blind School itself. Head teacher Priscar and Teacher Bridget showed me at length every corner of this special school.

At home in Venray I regularly heard in the background about the ups and downs of this textbook example of good work, but it is different when you are being sung to on the spot by a class full of excited school children. And then the break had yet to begin…
Thank you Xavier (and Ietje) for all your interference before and during my lightning visit to one of the most beautiful destinations on my to-do list.

I hope to be able to retire in a few years, and then finally enjoy my well-earned rest. I might even get the chance to travel to a distant destination. That could be in the direction of Zambia for sure. Curious about the progress of the Linda Blind Farm School and that of the children…”.

At the Victoria Falls of course. With the Devil Pool on the other side. Happily to see so much water at the Falls.

And of course it doesn’t stop there. John brings all 196 countries together and will soon share this with everyone. To be able to bring 196 countries together in this way and bring the world together, that is a beautiful image and a step forward to make the world a little more beautiful.
