Van tapkraan naar handwash bassin! De bouw is gestart!! From tap to hand wash basin! Construction of the handwash bassin has started!

Fase 1 van het Waterplan: genoeg en schoon (drink)water als middel in de strijd tegen covid en de klimatologische bedreigingen. Voor de kinderen van de Xavier Community School en voor de inwoners van de Linda Blind Farm. Het mes snijdt aan twee kanten.

Van 1 tapkraantje voor het hele dorp en de hele school naar een handwash bassin met 14 kranen waarvan 7 op kinderhoogte, met wasbakken, met kranen op rolstoelhoogte, met kranen om de jerry cans te vullen. En niet alleen toegankelijk voor mensen en kinderen met een beperking maar ook overkapt. Beschermd tegen zon en regen.

De eerste spade is afgelopen week in de grond gegaan. En al snel volgden er veel meer :). Met dank aan John Muleya en zijn staf van Gig Nidole Constructions. Zij bouwden de primary school en nu is ook het handwater bassin bij Gig Nidole aanbesteed. Met dank ook aan Kennedy Mukumbo van Dream Livingstone Zambia voor de begeleiding van deze aanbesteding en nu van het bouwproces. En dank aan de ZAPD voor de toestemming om te bouwen. Bovenal dank aan alle sponsoren in binnen- en buitenland voor de hulp en het vertrouwen in het Waterplan. En met dank aan Wilde Ganzen die de donaties heeft vermenigvuldigd met een prachtige bijdrage. Fase 1 is gestart!

Phase 1 of the Water Plan: enough and clean (drinking) water as a tool in the fight against covid and climatic threats. For the children of Xavier Community School and for the residents of Linda Blind Farm. The knife cuts both ways.
From 1 tap for the whole village and the whole school to a hand-wash basin with 14 taps of which 7 are at child height, with sinks, with taps at wheelchair height, with taps to fill jerry cans. And not only accessible for people and children with disabilities but also roofed over. Protected from sun and rain.
The first spade went into the ground last week. And soon many more followed :). Thanks to John Muleya and his staff at Gig Nidole Constructions. They built the primary school and now also the hand water basin at Gig Nidole has been tendered. With thanks also to Kennedy Mukumbo of Dream Livingstone Zambia for guiding us through this tender and now the building process. Thanks too to the ZAPD for the approval to build at this plot. And above all many thanks to all sponsors in The Netherlands, US and abroad for their help and confidence in the Water Plan.
