Ook hier past het Afrikaanse spreekwoord zo mooi: if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together!
With Manny Gordon Walker and Rachael Walker, together with all the workers at pure skills and especially with the kids and the parents as also residents of the Linda blind farm school we have renovated the playground for the kids succesfully into a lovely and safe playground again. That’s all made possible by Monique Retel. Monique has baked wonderful tastful home-made apple pies, sold them and collected the donations for Bricks for Zambia (Bouwstenen voor Zambia). Specially for the renovation of the playground.
He’s all like new and especially he is safe for the children again. The playground unfortunately could’nt resist the heavy rainy seasons and very dry summerseasons for a lif time. It really needed a renovation. For example, we now used. And when we also painted the swing once donated by another Monique, at the same time.
Children themselves have helped cleaning the playground. With Water, scrub brushes and old rags they have shined and polished it. Parents took a paintbrush and started the painting. Greet, a volunteer who recently went to Zambia and was willing to hand over some things on behalf of me to the teachers of the Linda blind farm school, also decided to help. Pure skills under the inspiring leadership of Manny Gordon Walker and Rachael Walker together with their students were responsable for the woodwork and welling. They also coordinated the project for me. Then the teachers, together with Mr. Songiso, Rachael and some parents talked with children and residents of the Linda Blind Farm about how to use and to take care of the playground.
One of the most beautiful African proverbs to me was also a lead in this project: if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together! Children and adults from all ages, from Zambia and from the Netherlands turned this project into a succes: together! Thank you all, on behalf of the children themselves, Xavier
