Maart 2014: nog maar 6 jaar geleden. Ik was voor de eerste keer in Zambia en werkte aan de nieuwbouwplannen voor de pre school op de Linda Blind Farm. Elke week kwam er een nieuwe stapel foto’s van de voortgang van de bouw binnen. Stap voor stap rees in 2014 een échte school. Omdat een échte school écht helpt. En dat een échte school ook écht helpt hebben deze 6 jaren wel uitgewezen. Kinderen zonder toekomst, hèbben weer een toekomst. Ze kunnen weer dromen.

March 2014: only six years ago, I was in Zambia for the first time, preparing the construction plans to build a new pre school. Because a real pre school really helps! And it does. Six years Linda Blind Farm pre school are the best proof a real school really helps. Education is the best weapon the change lives. Children have their dreams back again. Every week new pictures came in. And history repeats itself in March 2020..

Maart 2020: 6 jaar later. Nieuwe foto’s komen binnen. We willen de droom van de kinderen niet verstoren. Na de pre school was een primary school nodig. Om door te stromen. Van groep 2 naar groep 3 en verder. Naar de midden- en bovenbouw. Van pre school naar de basisschool.

Na alle plannen, de fundraising en héél veel hulp van Koopmans Bouw en klanten en relaties, van de Lions en Young Ambassadorship 2017-2019, van de Winkel van Sinkel in Grubbenvorst, het Stedelijk Gymnasium in Nijmegen, Thuy Nguyen en de Vierdaagse, heel veel andere organisaties en vooral mensen, jong en oud, na alle onderhandelingsfases èn gevolgd door een prachtige ceremony voor de eerste steenlegging op 9 januari dit jaar in Livingstone, stromen er weer veel nieuwe foto’s binnen! Nu van de start van de bouw van de primary school! Dat de Stichting Wilde Ganzen (www.wildeganzen.nl) elke gedoneerde euro verhoogde met 50% heeft de bouw van de primary school ook vleugels gegeven.

March 2020: 6 years later. History repeats itself. New pictures come in. We did not want to disturb the dreams of the children. Because some dreams can’t wait. After the pre school a primary school was definitely needed. So children could continue their school education. And after two years of preparation, making plans, raising funds, negotiations, talks, travels and of course this wonderful ground breaking ceremony on the 9th of January this year in Livingstone, new pictures are coming in again. This time about the construction of the primary school!

Ja we zijn weer gestart. De boom is helaas geveld. De grond is bouwrijp gemaakt, de contouren van het schoolgebouw (met verf) op de grond uitgezet, het graafwerk gedaan (met schop en schop) en het beton gestort. De eerste stenen zijn gemetseld. Nee, geen machines maar alles hands-on. Het is heel hard werken. Met schop en handwerk. In de hitte van de dag. En soms een plensbui waar hier in Nederland de kranten vol van zouden staan.

Ik word weer net zo blij van alle nieuwe foto’s als 6 jaar geleden. De komende dagen deel ik graag de beelden in de verschillende stadia tot nog toe. Bouwen in Zambia? Kijk je komende dagen mee?
