Lessons learned. Grondige inspecties op de bouw van de primary school. Thorough inspections at the construction plot.

Ook in Zambia worden maatregelen genomen om te voorkomen dat Corona zich verspreidt. Ook de gezinnen met kinderen op de Linda Blind Farm School behoren tot de grote risicogroepen. Deze foto’s zijn genomen voor dat Corona om zich heen begon te grijpen. Alle scholen in Zambia zijn nu gesloten. Het bouwproces van de nieuwe school gaat nog steeds door. Men wil bijven investeren in de toekomst. Zeker nu. Wij hebben ze op het hart gedrukt dat veiligheid en gezondheid boven alles gaat.

Lessons learned. Bij de bouw van de primary school hebben we deze keer, onafhankelijke, inspecteurs ingeschakeld. Zij inspecteren de uitvoering en de kwaliteit van de bouw. Elke fase opnieuw. Twee inspecties maar liefst: de Inspectie van de gemeente inspecteert en de Inspectie van het Ministerie van Educatie inspecteert. Onafhankelijk van elkaar. Beide Inspecties maken allebei een eigen inspectierapport op aan het eind van elke fase.

Als er iets niet goed is, dan moet de aannemer het eerst aanpassen. Anders komen er geen stempels op de inspectierapporten. Deze inspectierapporten gaan naar Kennedy Mukumbo, onze lokale samenwerkingspartner van “Dream Livingstone Zambia”. Samen met foto’s van de bouw en een toelichting van Kennedy, stuurt Dream Livingstone Zambia de inspectierapporten op naar mij. Als wij dan nog vragen hebben, gaan die weer terug naar Zambia.

Als wij akkoord zijn dan sturen wij een bericht naar de Stichting Wilde Ganzen. Zij maken dan het geld over voor de volgende bouwfase. Zoals jullie waarschijnlijk weten, heb ik alle donaties voor de Primary School, overgemaakt naar de Stichting Wilde Ganzen. Zij hebben deze donaties met 50% vermeerderd. Elke gedoneerde euro is zo € 1,50 waard! Wilde Ganzen zorgt voor de overboeking van de bedragen die ik aangeef, naar een, speciale, bankrekening. Deze speciale bankrekening is door onze lokale samenwerkingspartner Dream Livingstone, speciaal geopend voor de bouw van de primary school.

In Zambia schools are closed because of the Corona virus too. While making these pictures the Corona virus was not know yet. The construction process still goes on. They really want to invest in the future as much as possible. Certainly in these times. We have strongly advised them to take very good care of their health and safety. Safety and health as top priorities!

Lessons learned. This time we asked two, both independant, Building Inspections to monitor the excution and quality of the work at the building process. They perform the inspections every phase again. Yes two Inspections. One Inspection is performed by the inspection of the building department of the Ministry of Education. The other Inspection is carried out by the Inspection of the City Council. Independent of each other. Both Inspections issue a report of their findings. If their is something they want to be changed or improved, they report to our local partner and this will be done before the inspection reports will be stamped. So at the end of every phase we have two inspections reports.

After this our local partner, Kennedy Mukumbo from Dream Livingstone Zambia, transfers both inspection reports as pictures and his own clarification, to me. We look into it all quite thoroughly and if there are no questions left, we ask the Wild Geese Foundation to transfer the money for the next phase into a special banc account from our local partner. So the contractor can start building to the next level. As you migth know we transferred the donations meant for the primary school, to the Wild Geese Foundation. They have increased this amount with 50%. So every donated euro becomes € 1,50.
