Een slimme verbinding tussen Hilversum Nederland en Livingstone Zambia. Smart connection between a city in The Netherlands and Livingstone Zambia caused by Lions Club 035

Ken uw stad. De 035 kwis staat bekend als de leukste kwis over Hilversum. Georganiseerd door de Lionsclub Hilversum 035. 23 teams met meer dan 100 teamleden, 35 uur op pad om meer dan 50 vragen te beantwoorden. En het team “Bouwstenen voor Zambia” was van de partij!

Mais, Deth, Sabine, Barry, Jose, Henk, Jan, Aike en Tom gingen op zoek naar 50 antwoorden op 50 vragen. Corona proof. Kennis werd gebundeld, google maps afgestruind, en alle kennissen werden afgebeld/gewhatsappt. Behalve online zoeken moest er ook veel gefietst en gewandeld worden om de juiste foto’s te maken. “Pittig”, ‘Uitdagend”, “Vermoeiend” en “Fantastisch” om maar een paar steekwoorden uit de enthousiaste reacties te citeren.  Cryptische omschrijving moesten aan een straatnaam gekoppeld worden: “blijven cirkelen” was bijvoorbeeld de “Joost den Draaijer Rotonde”. En zou u geweten hebben hoeveel openbare vijvers uw woonplaats telt of hoeveel voormalige bibliotheken?

Team  Bouwstenen voor Zambia wist de 13e plaats te bemachtigen. Maar dat niet alleen! Er was ook een mooie donatie te verdienen door het goed beantwoorden van een extra moeilijke bonus vraag: de “sherlock-holmes vraag’. En raadt u het al? Team Bouwstenen voor Zambia was dat “Sherlock Holmes team”. Dat goede antwoord op deze extra moeilijke bonusvraag, leverde een zeer welkome donatie op.

Team Bouwstenen voor Zambia heeft een prachtige dag gehad en gaat volgend jaar een nieuwe poging wagen.

Trots op het team van Mais, Deth, Sabine, Barry, Jose, Henk, Jan, Aike en Tom dat ervoor koos om in Hilversum op pad te gaan als Team Bouwstenen voor Zambia en voor Bouwstenen voor Zambia als goede doel te kiezen voor hun prijs! Wat een leuke manier om een actie te doen voor de Linda Blind Farm School in Zambia. Wat leuk dat jullie kozen voor Bouwstenen voor Zambia als goede doel. En natuurlijk met dank aan de Lionsclub Hilversum 035 voor zo’n leuk initiatief om goede doelen te helpen. Als voormalig Young Ambassador 2017-2019 van de Lions Club Nederland ben ik natuurlijk ook nog extra “connected”.

   

How much do you know about your own home-town? What someone would ask you fifty questions to solve, in a team, online as by biking and walking around in your city. In only 35 hours. Would you have the answer at the question know how many streets names of women carry (hope a lot of course)? Or how many public ponds there are in the city you live? About 50 trivia questions had to be answered on the so called 035 quiz organised by the Lionsclub Hilversum 035. Hilversum is a town situated in the middle of The Netherlands. Famous for instance because it is the home town of most of Dutch TV channels.

And Brick for Zambia was in Hilversum too that day. It was I very nice surpise when I was told, afterwards, there was a team called “Team Foundation Bricks voor Zambia” which had taken part in this contest. Proudly I can present the team that consisted of 8 players: Mais, Deth, Sabine, Barry, Jose, Henk Jan, Aike and Tom. They participated in this so-called 035-quiz (the organizing club is Lions club Hilversum 035, therefore the name of the quiz). A quiz about the local sight of Hilversum, about funny facts, and little details. An online quiz without cheating off, as the organizing Lions-club had made the question so difficult that cheating off would not having helpfull in one way or the other:). Questions like how many little ponds are there (and lakes don’t count), how many former libraries are there (it turns out getting this question right was very hard), but also deciphering cryptical clues that are just too difficult for me to translate.

They had 35 hours to answer 50 questions as answering a bonus question too. By combining their knowledge, exploring google maps, and getting all the information out of their acquaintances. This bonus question turned out to be the clue for the team of “Foundation Bouwstenen voor Zambia”. It was the so called special ‘Sherlock Holmes”.  A special price to win: a donation for the charity represented by the winning team. Of course, you feel already what is coming on: team “Foundation Bouwstenen voor Zambia”  answered, as being the real Sherlock Holmes, this bonus question well. Which resulted in a very nice donation by the Lionsclub Hilversum 035. For the benefit of the Linda Blind Farm School in Zambia. An here the connection between the town of Hilversum in The Netherlands and Livingstone in Zambia that day comes up. This donation will be added to the benefits of the fundraising campaign to build this handwash bassin for the school as also to be used by the people of the farm. The team had a lot of fun playing the quiz, and I’ve been told they are eager to play again next year. I would have loved to offer my services as reinforcements, but I’m afraid these local Hilversum quiz questions are simply too hard for me!
