De weg naar de bieb helemaal gevonden! They found their way to the library!

De library is nu echt in gebruik genomen. Geopend op de internationale dag van de geletterheid begin september, hebben de kinderen hun weg naar de bieb helemaal gevonden! In de container van een aantal jaar geleden zaten honderden Engelse boeken, over allemaal onderwerpen voor alle leeftijden. In de container stond ook prachtig meubilair voor de library. Kasten om boeken in uit te stallen, tafels en stoelen en zelfs een echte gele leesbank. Wat nog mistte was een échte ruimte voor de bibliotheek.

In het nieuwe schoolgebouw is daarvoor gezorgd. Een echte bieb, waar een groepje leerlingen kan genieten van het lezen. En ook leuk: je mag een keer wisselen van klaslokaal. Dat is echt een grote school :)!

The library has officaly came into use. In the container, a few years ago, there were hundreds of English books, about all kinds of different subjects for all ages. There was also beautiful school furniture in the container for the library. Cabinets to showcase the books, tables and chairs, and even a yellow ‘reading bank’. Great thanks to Biblionef Nederland, Library Veldhoven and the Dutch schools for all those wonderful furniture and books that turned this special room into a real library. And this wouldn’t have been possible without all the help of so many people, organisations and companies, to build the new primary school anyway!

Als het tijd is voor de library wordt de klas gesplitst. 2/3e van de klas volgt gewoon de normale geplande les. De andere 1/3de mag naar de library en een boek uitkiezen om in te lezen. De volgende keer worden de groepen weer omgewisseld. En nu hopen we dat het straks ook mogelijk gemaakt kan worden voor de leerlingen om een boek te lenen en ook thuis te kunnen genieten van een goed boek. Dan horen boeken echt bij je leven. Malala zei het ooit “one book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world.” En daar gaat de library op de Xavier Community School ook een steentje aan bijdragen. Klik op de bijgevoegde video en zie de kinderen genieten van hun eigen bieb. Met een leuke afsluiting aan het eind van de video! De eerste keer dat een leerling zich rechtstreeks tot ons allemaal richt. Wat mooi! Zo trots als ze zijn op hun eigen bibliotheek helemaal gevuld met prachtige, interessante boeken!

Thanks to all the donors and sponsors we could take establish dat wonderful Xavier Community School library in the new primary school!  A room, which can be used by a group of children to enjoy the benefits of reading. When it is library-time, the class gets seperated. 2/3th of the class follows the normal lessons, but the other 1/3th can go to the library and pick a book to read from. The next time the groups get changed. And of course in the future we also hope it will become possible for children to borrow a book, so that they can also enjoy a good book at a home. Reading at home, bringing books into your regular life,  can really help students. Malala once said: “one book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world.’ For sure, the library of the Xavier Community School will contribute to this. It might even create life-long readers and create them, with the help of reading books too, a way into the wide world and to knowledge and wisdom. Which can be very helpful in life.
