Casual Friday at the Linda Blind Farm School

In Zambia dragen kinderen meestal school uniformen. Een rok of broek, een blouse of shirt en vaak ook nog bijpassende kousen en een spencer. Iedereen van jong tot de oudste grades dragen hetzelfde uniform. Je herkent aan de uniformen op welke school iemand zit. Op de Linda Blind Farm School is ook een school uniform maar lang niet alle ouders zijn in staat om een school uniform te betalen.

In Nederland en overigens zeker niet alleen in Nederland, kennen we ook bedrijfsculturen waar het ook normaal is om op vrijdag niet in je pak op het werk te verschijnen maar in vrijetijdskleding. Dat zou de werksfeer, creativiteit en productiviteit positief beïnvloeden. Ik laat het oordeel graag aan de lezer over.

Ook op de Linda Blind Farm School heeft Casual Friday zijn intrede gedaan :). Sinds een paar weken hebben de kinderen op de Linda Blind Farm School op vrijdag hun eigen “Casual Friday”. Op vrijdagen geen uniform maar eigen, lekker en gemakkelijk zittende, kleding. Ook heerlijk luchtig in de warme temperaturen van Zambia. Op vrijdag hullen de kinderen van de Linda Blind Farm School, van jong tot ouder, zich in de Zambiaanse kleuren. Met een rood polo-shirt en een kraagje in de kleuren zwart, geel en oranje. De kleuren van de Zambiaanse vlag. Op de achterkant prijkt de naam van de Xavier Community School (sinds 2018 de tweede naam voor de Linda Blind Farm School).

In Zambia, school uniforms are a must wear for students either they are little ones or teenager. A skirt or pants, a blouse or shirt and often matching stockings and a spencer. Everyone from the young to the oldest grades wear the same uniform. You can recognize by the uniforms which school someone is in. At the Linda Blind Farm School there is also a school uniform but not all parents are able to pay for a school uniform.

In the Netherlands as in other countries by the way, there are company cultures where it is also normal not to wear a suit to work on Friday but a casual outfit. That would positively influence the working atmosphere, creativity and productivity. I am happy to leave the judgment to the reader.

So Casual Friday has now also made its appearance at the Linda Blind Farm School :). For a few weeks now, the children at Linda Blind Farm School have had their own “Casual Friday” on Fridays. On Fridays no uniform but their own, nice and easy fitting, clothes. Also wonderfully airy in the warm temperatures of Zambia.

But there is sligth but significant difference. On Fridays the children of the Linda Blind Farm School, from young to old, not only dress themselves in their own skirt or pants but they dress in the Zambian colors too. With a red polo shirt and a collar in the colors black, yellow and orange. The colors of the Zambian flag. On the back is the name of the Xavier Community School (since 2018 the second name for the Linda Blind Farm School).
