Een allerbijzonderste mijlpaal in 11 jaar Bouwstenen voor Zambia! Ontmoet onze eerste Class 2024 op de Xavier Community School!

Goede wijn behoeft eigenlijk geen krans maar oh wat zijn we allemaal supertrots. Dus toch een grote krans voor deze 21 kids en hun teachers, staff, ouders, oudercomite en de lokale partners ook. Maar bovenal, voor de kids zelf! 21 supervrolijke gezichten. Daar doen we het voor.

1 heeft geen examen gedaan en besloot al voor de examenperiode om het jaar over te doen. Helaas moesten 2 kinderen, alle pogingen van de leraren om hiervoor nog oplossingen te vinden, vanwege familieomstandigheden, twee maanden voor de examens de school verlaten om te verhuizen naar de hoofdstad.

En voor degenen die nu niet de stap naar de middelbare school konden maken, jullie zijn er in Class 2025 vast en zeker bij.

Trotser kunnen we allemaal niet zijn. Deze kinderen zijn de pioniers van de Xavier Community School. Zij hebben het pad geeffend voor al die kinderen die de komende decennia gaan volgen. Samen met hun teachers van het eerste uur tot nu in 2024. Chapeau!

Wat begon met een droom in 2014 is nu werkelijkheid geworden. In augustus 2014 openden we de eerste echte school, de pre school, – nu, ruim tien jaar later, hebben de allereerste leerlingen van de Xavier Community School hun Grade 7-examens gemaakt!

Geen woorden nodig: kijk naar die supervrolijke gezichten. Stuk voor stuk stralend van trots. Allemaal kinderen die waarschijnlijk zonder de Linda Blind Farm School/Xavier Community School nooit een school van binnen gezien zouden hebben.

Dáár doen we het voor. Deze 21 jongens en meisjes zijn de eersten – maar zeker niet de laatsten. Met vastberadenheid en hoop trappen zij de cirkel van armoede stuk en bouwen zij aan een betere toekomst.

Dat doen ze niet alleen. Al sinds 2014 krijgen we steun van ontzettend veel betrokken mensen, organisaties en bedrijven. Dankzij u maken deze kinderen kans op een betere toekomst. Niet alleen voor henzelf, maar ook voor hun families, hun community – misschien zelfs hun land.

A truly special milestone in 11 years of Building Blocks for Zambia: meet our very first Class of 2024 at Xavier Community School!

Good wine needs no bush – but still, we are so proud. So here’s a big cheer for these 21 kids, their teachers, staff, parents, the parent committee, and our local partners. But above all: for the kids themselves! 21 joyful, beaming faces. This is what we do it for.

No words needed – just look at those bright, proud faces. Each and every one of them shining with pride. These are children who, without the Linda Blind Farm School/Xavier Community School, might never have set foot in a classroom.

One student decided early on to repeat the year and didn’t sit for the exams. Unfortunately, despite the teachers’ efforts to find solutions, two children had to leave the school just two months before the exams due to family circumstances and a move to the capital.

And for those who did not make the step to a secundary in 2024, for sure they will in 2025!

You all were pioniers and you all paved the way for everyone who will follow in the next decades! Together with your teachers and parents starting in 2012 till now. So proud of all of you!!

What started as a dream in 2014 has now become reality. In August 2014, the very first real school – the preschool was opened Now, more than ten years later, the very first students of Xavier Community School have taken their Grade 7 exams!

This is why we do what we do. These 21 girls and boys are the first – but certainly not the last. With determination and hope, they are breaking the cycle of poverty and building better futures.

Thanks very much to everyone who has taking part, one way or the other, in this process so far. Because they’re not doing it alone. Since 2014, we’ve been supported by countless dedicated individuals, organizations, and companies. Thanks to you, these children have a real shot at a brighter future – not only for themselves, but also for their families, their community, and maybe even their country.
