De Linda Blind Farm School amongst Singersongwriting and maquettes?

Een schorre stem, heel veel geïnteresseerd publiek en een voldaan gevoel.

Een mooie combinatie waarmee ik na de Verbredingsmarkt op mijn school huiswaarts ging.
Van Noors tot singersongwriting, van architectuurmaquettes tot statistiek. En te midden van dat alles was ook de Linda Blind Farm School in Zambia present. Elk jaar krijgen enkele tientallen leerlingen op mijn school de kans om tijdens gewone lessen aan een project te werken dat ze zelf gekozen hebben. En natuurlijk besteed ik die tijd maar al te graag aan mijn werk voor de Linda Blind Farm School in Zambia.
Ook dit jaar heb ik die tijd heel goed kunnen gebruiken: ik ben naar Zambia geweest en samen met teachers, ouders, samenwerkingspartners en het ministerie van onderwijs hebben we hele mooie vooruitgang kunnen boeken. Er is nog een nieuwtje dat ik een teacher mij een paar dagen geleden liet weten maar dat verdient een eigen blog! En dan heb ik in mijn verbredingsproject ook Young Ambassador, waarvoor de voorbereidingen voor Montreux al weer in volle gang zijn, onder kunnen brengen.
Alle verbredingsleerlingen worden gevraagd om 1 keer per jaar hun project te presenteren op de zogenaamde Verbredingsmarkt. Deze V-markt is er voor iedere belangstellende van binnen en buiten school: ouders, broers en zussen, opa’s en oma’s, leraren, klasgenoten, vrienden en noem maar op. Iedereen krijgt een tafeltje. Ik had er twee nodig en was blij dat ik ook nog een muur achter me had staan. Publiek kan een kijkje komen nemen.
Over belangstelling had ik niets te klagen. Twee uur lang heb ik zeer veel mensen, kennis kunnen laten maken met de Linda Blind Farm School en Bouwstenen voor Zambia. Ondanks een schorre keel is het telkens weer mooi om deze kinderen een gezicht te mogen geven. Dat blijven altijd mooie dagen.
En deze keer ook veel foto’s over het project dat mijn broertje Gabòr in Zambia heeft gedaan. De kinderen poetsen nog elke morgen heel enthousiast en fanatiek hun tanden. Een Nederlandse vriendin heeft het vorige maand nog met eigen ogen gezien toen ze onverwacht de school bezocht.
Weer zijn er stukken zeep verkocht. En als de visitekaartjes ook hun werk kunnen doen, dan was dit niet alleen een prachtige avond maar zelfs een fantastische avond. Groetjes, Xavier

A hoarse voice, a lot of interested audience and a real satisfaction. A nice combination which I took home after the Widening Market last week.
From Norwegian to singersongwriting, from architecture mats to statistics. And in the middle of that, the Linda Blind Farm School in Zambia was also present. Every year, a few dozens of students at my school get the opportunity to work, in stead of normal classes, on a project that they have chosen. It is meant to give them the opportunity to broaden a particular subject . And of course, I chose to spend my time to support the progress at the Linda Blind Farm School in Zambia.
This year, I have been able to use that time very well: I have been to Zambia and have worked together with teachers, parents, partners and the Ministry of Education to make great progress. And then, in my widening project, I also focussed at the Young Ambassador Election from the Lions, for which at this moment preparations for Montreux are already in full swing.
All these students are invited by school to present their project once a year on the so-called Widening Market. This W-market is available to all interested in and out of school: parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents, grandmothers, teachers, classmates, friends and just mention. Every student involved gets a table. I needed two and was glad I had another wall behind me.

I had nothing to complain. On the contrary. For two hours I have a lot of people, I can make acquaintances with the Linda Blind Farm School and Building Blocks for Zambia. Despite my hoarse voice, it is always nice to have a new opportunity to give these children a voice. They need it and they deserve it. Because they also have the right for a better future.

There also was a lot of attention for the project my brother Gabòr did at the Linda Blind Farm school last February. I had a few nice pictures to show the visitors. The audience was very interested. And this really is a successful story for two reasons at least. A lot of parents and children who untill now lack education in Zambia, reported their children for an education at the Linda Blind Farm. Since March the population at school extended with over 30 children who mostly lacked schooleducation untill now. And also very very important: the children still brush their teeth at school, every morning. The teachers pay very good attention to it because they now it is so important. A Dutch friend was part of this when she unexpectedly visited the school last month.

And again, pieces of soap have been sold. And if the business cards can also do their job, this was not just a wonderful evening but even a fantastic evening! With kind regards, Xavier
